and Information
A personalized approach can help you get the information you need, including support resources for people with bone metastases and their loved ones. In this section, you can read, print, download, and e-mail useful ZOMETA materials, a Side Effects Guide and a Support Resources Guide.
ZOMETA Side Effects Guide
If you or your loved one with bone metastases is interested in learning more about some of the common side effects of ZOMETA, the Side Effects Guide may help. Here's how it works:
- Select the side effects or symptoms that you or your loved one would like to know more about
- Click on the "Create your Side Effects Guide" button to create a customized list that you can save, e-mail, or print to take to your doctor
Highlights of the Important Safety Information for ZOMETA:
- If you have kidney problems, tell your doctor. ZOMETA treatment is not for patients with severe kidney problems. It is important to get your blood tested while you are receiving ZOMETA. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function before each dose
- Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) has been reported predominantly in cancer patients treated with intravenous bisphosphonates, including ZOMETA. A causal relationship between bisphosphonate use and ONJ has not been established. Cancer patients should maintain good oral hygiene, and have a dental examination prior to beginning ZOMETA. Avoid invasive dental procedures
- Please see additional Important Safety Information, full ZOMETA Prescribing Information and talk to your doctor for more information
Support Resources Guide
The Support Resources Guide highlights useful resources with information about cancer and bone metastases, emotional support, and financial support. The Guide also lists support groups for caregivers.
